Our own Alan Soberano (son of Roberto Soberano of Hombre Barrio fame) will be hosting a new radio program on SATURDAY NIGHTS FROM 8 to 10 pm on K-Lien-T 93.7 FM on your dial. The show will consist of English and Spanish talk and Music (soft pop, and there is some great Mexican pop) Best of all at 9 pm Alan will do LOCAL NEWS (Manzanillo stuff) in ENGLISH!!!!
We hope you will tune in and listen to the young local talent and lend your support to this innovative program, enjoy some broadcasting in English and consider, if you are a local business person, doing some advertising in this time spot. For anyone who is interested in helping out in the TWO upcoming PATA Manzanillo clinics, there will be a volunteer meeting this Friday, Jan. 25 at 12 noon at the Scuba Shack in Santiago. This clinic dates are Feb. 27-Mar. 3 (teaching clinic) and Mar. 12-16.

 We have several shifts throughout the day to accommodate most schedules: a morning one (7:30 am - 1:30 pm) and an afternoon one (1 pm - 7 pm) and even a short evening one for people who work (5 pm -8 pm).

 I implore those of you who have volunteered in the past to PLEASE convince a friend or neighbor to come along and find out what there is to do. There is no time commitment that is too short -- even a few hours makes a huge difference.

 Yes, the clinics we hold are to help us accomplish our long-term goal of reducing the overpopulation of street animals in Manzanillo but these clinics are about PEOPLE & COMMUNITY not just dogs and cats. The outreach we provide to bring proper pet care to people in need is a crucial and incredible service...... when you see how our clinic has affected the way people treat their dog or cat -- the look of love that grows in their eyes seeing their pet so vulnerable -- you know that you are leaving a lasting impression that goes to the heart of the community.

 As foreigners who have chosen Mexico and Manzanillo as our home, the gift of "responsible pet culture" is something amazing that we are imparting upon the wonderful community who has opened itself to receive us as neighbors. I cannot reiterate more how many different roles there are in the clinic, from providing meals to the volunteers, to being on-hand as a driver to pick up last minute supplies, comforting a pet out of surgery in the recovery room, to cleaning instruments and cages. Becoming integrated into a community effort is our goal, and these clinics provide all of us with a positive environment to interact with our Manzanillo local community in a loving and generous way.
